EBS Alumni Stories: 7 Fragen an EBS Alumnus Alexander Thelen
Mit den Schwerpunkten Wirtschaftsrecht und Investments schloss Alexander 2007 das Studium an der EBS als Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) ab. Während des Studiums an der EBS war er in diversen EBS Studenteninitiativen aktiv, so z.B. in ebsent (Veranstaltungsdurchführung) und im Immobilienressort (Durchführung des EBS Immobilienkongresses).
Die Berufung wurde zum Beruf – seit 2006 ist Alexander Geschäftsführer des Golf Clubs Schloss Miel. In der reizvollen Landschaft der Voreifel gelegen, bietet der Club sportlich anspruchsvolles Spiel oder rundum entspannendes Golferlebnis in unmittelbarer Nähe der Beethovenstadt Bonn. Bereits neun Mal fand das legendäre EBS Alumni Golfevent, zuletzt 2017, dank Alexander mit einem einzigartigen Rahmenprogramm auf dem Golfplatz des Clubs statt.
Warum gefällt Dir Dein heutiger Beruf?
Es ist abwechslungsreich und ich lerne viele interessante Menschen kennen. Meistens sind die Menschen in ihrer Freizeit in einer guten Stimmung – man hat viel mit gut gelaunten Menschen zu tun und die Arbeit fühlt sich selten als solche an.
Was macht Dich zu einer guten Führungspersönlichkeit?
Das müssen Sie meine Kollegen fragen. Eigenlob war noch nie meine Stärke.
Was bedeutet es für Dich, Mitglied bei EBS Alumni zu sein?
Es bedeutet im Geiste Verbundenheit zu der Hochschule aufrecht zu erhalten. Erinnerung an schöne und ereignisreiche Jahre an der EBS.
Welche 3 Themen sind Dir in Deinem Leben aktuell am wichtigsten?
Familie, Gesundheit, Freundschaften
Was tust Du, um bei allem beruflichen Stress mental und körperlich ausgeglichen zu bleiben?
Viel zu wenig.
Woher nimmst Du bei all dem scharfen Wandel Deinen Mut und Zuversicht für die Zukunft?
Tagesformabhängig. Meine Familie ist der wichtigste Dreh- und Angelpunkt in meinem Leben und spendet mir Kraft und Ruhe, wenn ich es brauche.
Was wird Dir aus EBS Zeiten für immer in Erinnerung bleiben?
Die Freundschaften, die während des Studiums entstanden sind und bis heute halten. Viele meiner besten Freunde stammen aus der Studienzeit an der EBS und allein hierfür möchte ich die Zeit an der EBS nicht missen.

Alexander graduated from EBS in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.), majoring in Business Law and Investments. During his studies at EBS, he was active in various EBS student initiatives, such as ebsevent (event coordination) and the real estate department (implementation of the EBS Real Estate Congress).
The vocation became a profession - Since 2006, Alexander has been the managing director of Golf Club Schloss Miel. Situated in the charming landscape of the Voreifel, the club offers sporty challenging play or an all-around relaxing golf experience near the Beethoven city Bonn. The legendary EBS Alumni Golf Event has already taken place nine times, most recently in 2017, thanks to Alexander with a unique supporting program on the club's golf course.
Why do you like your job today?
It's varied, and I get to know a lot of interesting people. Most of the time, people are in a good mood in their free time - you have a lot to do with good-humored people, and work rarely feels like work.
What makes you a good leader?
You'll have to ask my colleagues. Self-praise has never been my strong suit.
What does it mean to you to be a member of EBS Alumni?
It means staying connected to the university in spirit. Remembrance of beautiful and eventful years at EBS.
Which three topics are currently most important to you in your life?
Family, health, friendships
What do you do to stay mentally and physically balanced despite all the professional stress?
Much too little.
With all the sharp change, where do you get your courage and confidence for the future?
Depends on the shape of the day. My family is the most important linchpin in my life and gives me strength and peace when I need it..
What will you always remember from your time at EBS?
The friendships that were formed during my studies and still last today. Many of my best friends come from my time studying at EBS, and for that alone, I wouldn't want to miss my time at EBS.
